Good morning! This is an informational message: A fire alarm was set off in one of the boys' bathrooms this morning. The fire marshall team evacuated the building and had all areas cleared within 5 minutes. The students and staff are now back inside to resume the school day.

The Sylvan Hills High School Delegation competed in the Arkansas State Student Congress Competition held at the Capitol this past weekend, and Monday and Tuesday. There were over 300 students involved across the state. The following awards were attained by our students:

PCSSD high school students are back as active participants in our school board meetings. Tonight, SYLVAN HILLS HIGH senior Ka'Mya Tackett represented the student body at the November Board of Education meeting. We are so proud of her hard work and willingness to represent the Bears. She's quite the achiever - she even got a standing ovation by the Board and guests at the meeting after hearing all of her accomplishments. Way to go, Ka'Mya!

The Naval Academy will host an admissions informational session on Sunday, December 1 for students in the central Arkansas area. The session will take place at Catholic High School (6300 Fr. Tribou St.) from 2 pm - 3:30 pm with check-in starting at 1:30 pm.
All high school students interested in attending a service academy are encouraged to attend with their family members. Educators are welcome to attend as well. At this event, there will be an overview of the Naval Academy, the admissions process, how to obtain a nomination, and a Q & A session.

The Cross Country team had an amazing finish to a wonderful season Thursday, November 7 in Hot Springs at the 2024 Arkansas High School 5A State Cross Country Meet. Multiple athletes set personal best times, and memories were made! Go, Bears!
