🎉👏On Tuesday evening, the PCSSD Board of Education honored Ms. Elizabeth Prewett, 2025’s Arkansas History Teacher of the Year, selected by the Gilder Lehrman Institute (GLI).🏆📚

👩‍🏫The Wilbur D. Mills University Studies High School teacher will be honored again before the Arkansas State Board of Education in January, representing not only Mills High and Pulaski County but the entire state with this prestigious award.

🏫Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education Humanities Specialist Isaac Cross and Social Studies Specialist Ronda Smith (GLI coordinator) presented the recognition before the Board.

Students in Mr. Harper’s Juvenile Justice and History classes had an incredible learning opportunity today with guest speaker Bo Renshaw. A longtime Sherwood community leader and partner with Sylvan Hills’ Sports Medicine program, Mr. Renshaw—who is currently running for Arkansas State Representative—spoke with students about civic engagement and responsibility.

Our Bears asked thoughtful questions and walked away with real ideas for how they can get involved in their community. 💙🐻

Earlier this week, our Choir students enjoyed an unforgettable experience during their UALR recruitment tour! They were joined by several SHHS alumni who are now majoring or minoring in music, along with Dr. Lorissa Mason (UALR Director of Choirs), Teecumpsy Wiggins, Ms. Elaine Harris, Akilah Wedderburn, and Jennifer Bell.

Our students represented the Hillside beautifully and performed exceptionally well. 🎶💙

DELAYED START ❄ As we continue to monitor weather conditions, predictions indicate a high chance of early Tuesday morning temperatures below freezing, which increases the chances of icy roads and bridges. The safety of our students, teachers, and staff is always the first priority, so PCSSD will have a delayed start on Tuesday, December 2, for schools and district offices. Buses will run two hours later than their normal scheduled time. Tardies will not be counted for the day.
