Students are solving a "murder" in Ms. Litten's class this week! Students studied Newton's Law of Cooling Exponential Functions and then used data from the Officer's report to calculate time of death. They also read through interviews to determine if each alibi was credible.
A representative from the Secretary of State's Office visited Ms. Brasfield's U.S. History classroom on Monday to talk about how a vill becomes a law. During the lesson, Ms. Hittenrauch explained the process at the state and federal level. Students were separated into House and Senate groups, selected a Speaker of the House and a Lt. Governor, and each Chamber drafted five bills for the classroom. The Speaker and the Lt. Governor presented their bills to the class, then exchanged bills for amendments. After amendments, each Chamber voted for one bill to pass their floor to be presented to the Governor (Ms. Brasfield) who then chose to sign or veto their bills as new classroom rules.
