PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. -- The Sylvan Hills High School Jobs for Arkansas Graduates (JAG) Program is being recognized for achieving the national organization’s 5-of-5 Award.
Sylvan Hills High is one of 25 programs in Arkansas to receive the 5-of-5 recognition.
“JAG helps young people of truly great promise succeed both in school and on-the-job, leading to a productive and rewarding career,” said SHHS JAG Specialist, Janis Christian. “Jobs for America’s Graduates is led by a public/private partnership at the national level, composed of leading Governors, C-Suite Executives among the Fortune 500 and national community leaders.”
Arkansas’s statewide program also received the recognition, which means students enrolled in the program met certain criteria, including graduation, job placement, full-time employment, and further education rates.
“I am extremely proud of the Division of Career and Technical Education for leading and supporting this outstanding program, as well as the 25 programs that also received national recognition,” ADE Secretary Johnny Key said. “Because of the division’s efforts and the dedication from educators around the state, Arkansas has one of the most exemplary JAG programs in the country, as evidenced by this award over the last 15 years. Thank you to everyone who contributes to this programs’ success and provides critical support to help students achieve success in life.”
During the 2020-2021 school year, 116 JAG programs in 81 Arkansas school districts assisted more than 3,600 students.
