Taking Care of the Chromebook
Each student will be responsible for the device that has been assigned to them. If the device is lost (not returned, missing, etc.), liquid-damaged, or otherwise non-repairable due to extensive non-warranty damage, the student, and parent/guardian will be responsible for paying for the replacement cost of the Chromebook. This is very similar to the existing textbook replacement policy. In the event a Chromebook is stolen, a police report must be filed and submitted to the school.
If the device is damaged and inoperable as a result of willful action or negligence, the student will be charged a fine for damage repair to cover the cost of replacement components (the only components that are replaceable are the keyboard and display). A loaner Chromebook may be issued upon return of the damaged device, so the student is still able to participate in class and complete homework assignments. If a student damages or has more than one missing device, principal permission must be granted for another loaner to be given. Once the repair is complete the original Chromebook will be returned to the student. See Ms. Ray in the media center before or after school or at lunch if you need assistance with a broken or damaged Chromebook or are having log-in issues you can't resolve through the PCSSD portal.
