Experience the power of public education.
By the end of January, every student and teacher at Sylvan Hills High School will have a school-issued iPad. This is an exciting time, the culmination of months of preparation by administrators, teachers, and countless others. There are three last hurdles to providing students with the learning technology they deserve: information, paperwork, and logistics.
To take care of the information and paperwork, there will be two 15-20 minute "boot camp" sessions, in which parents, guardians, and students will learn specific details about the iPads. Parents and guardians who attend these sessions will also be able to fill out the necessary paperwork. This paperwork indicates, among other things, whether or not the parent or guardian of each student wishes for that student to receive an iPad, as well as whether or not the parent or guardian agrees to take responsibility for the student being able to take the iPad home in the evenings. This paperwork is mandatory, and the easiest way to fill it out is by attending the "boot camp" session appropriate for your student. There will be two "boot camp" sessions; please attend the session appropriate for your student.
9th Grade iPad Boot Camp: 6:00 PM Monday, January 12
10th-12th Grade iPad Boot Camp: 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 13
Once paperwork is signed and information has been provided, logistics are all that remain; when will students have iPads in their hands? District IT personnel will be at Sylvan Hills from Monday, January 20th to Thursday, January 22nd. Students will be called out of class during these days, and iPads will be distributed to them.
In order to ensure that your student receives his or her iPad in the most timely manner possible, please read the PDF attached below. Your student will need to set up and verify an Apple ID through his or her PCSSD email account prior to receiving his or her iPad, and the PDF below will guide you through that process. If your student has ever complained about forgetting his or her user accounts and passwords, please consider printing this form so that he or she can keep up with them more easily.
